I had the great fortune to be cast as an extra for a French comedy film called “Les Profs 2” that has been shot entirely in Belgium in the last couple of weeks. In between feeling like Andy Millman (Ricky Gervais) in the marvellous BBC comedy series “Extras” and doing some actual work, I decided to make myself a nuisance by photographing the cast and crew on set. As an advertising art director I’ve been on multiple film sets shooting commercials over the years, but I must say this was an entirely different and overwhelmingly positive experience. Of course, It helps that it’s a comedy film, but the atmosphere on the days I was on set were fun, light and empathetic. It contrasts heavily with the stress and strain of churning out a 30 sec. TV spot in less than two days. Cast were talented and welcoming. Grub was great. Camera crew were pitch perfect professional. All in all, a joy and a delight to go to work every morning. Hope I can get some more gigs along these lines. I wish the Director, actors and production team a big success with the film – the Avant-Première, I believe, is penciled in for early July. A big thank you to Casting 7 in Brussels for, well, casting me 🙂 and to my fellow extras, Dorian, Emmanuelle, Marc and Joelle for making the experience an interesting and light-hearted one. I shot everything with my iPhone 6 and processed the images using a mix of Snapseed, BleachBypass and other various photo apps.
