A particularly beautiful morning here at Hayes headquaters.
The Irish diaspora is normally associated with America and Australia. Yet, in recent years, a wave of emigration to Europe has resulted in established Irish communties across the EU. One manifestation of this cultural melting pot has been the rise in popularity of Ireland’s traditional sports of Hurling and Camogie on the continent. Yesterday, in Brussels, was the 2nd round of the Hurling and Camogie European Championship with teams from The Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Luxembourg joined in battle with teams from Brussels. Heart-warming to hear Irish accents mixing with perfect French, German and Dutch mother tongue. The sons and daughters of Irish expats no doubt. Grand day out. Hurling still as fast and furious as I remember it from my schoolboy days.
